About Our Pastor

Pastor Gwenn L. Trout was born in Gettysburg, but spent her formative years
in York, Pennsylvania, the third of four children to parents Thomas and
Nancy Trout. She attended and was confirmed at Advent Lutheran Church,
York, and sang with the choir from the time she was 5. In school she was
active in band, chorus and dramatics. She also spent much of her teen years
involved in community theatre in the York area.

Music has always been an important part of her life, and Pastor Trout
continues to add her alto voice to her church choir. Since 1981 Pastor
Trout has been a member of the Greater Harrisburg Sweet Adelines, a women's
barbershop chorus. She is active both administratively and musically in her
chorus, and has also served in leadership roles on the regional level. She
also sings in a quartet, Notewithstanding, which is comprised of members
from the Greater Harrisburg and Red Rose City Choruses of Sweet Adelines.
They compete annually and perform throughout the year.

Pastor Trout holds a B.A. degree in Speech Communications/Theatre from
Mansfield University of Pennsylvania. Following graduation in 1980, she
worked at the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (a state agency) in
Harrisburg, and later for the PA Department of General Services, where she
coordinated printing projects for state agencies. In 1993, Pastor Trout
left employment in Harrisburg and entered the M. Div. program at the
Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, graduating in May 1997. As
part of her field education, she completed the clinical chaplaincy program
at Duke University Hospital, Durham, NC and served an 11-month internship at
Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Sacramento, California.

In July 1997 she was called as pastor of St. James Lutheran Church, Columbia
PA, and was ordained in September of that year. In October 2003, Pastor
Trout began her call as pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, Enola. In addition
to her congregation, Pastor Trout serves the wider church. She served two
terms on the Lower Susquehanna Synod Council, and has served on the synod's
Constitution Committee, Synodical Worship Committee, Synod Assembly Worship
Committee, Synod Assembly Planning Committee, and two terms as a conference
dean. She currently serves as dean for the West Shore Conference.

Pastor Trout is single and resides in Harrisburg. Besides music, she enjoys
traveling, photography, rooting for the Pittsburg Steelers, and attending
movies, plays, concerts, and other arts events.
