Membership Requirements
According to Zion's Constitution and Bylaws, a member must COMMUNE of record at least once in two years and CONTRIBUTE of record once in two years in order to remain active in membership. The only way we know for sure that you have communed is by filling out the Ritual of Friendship pad so we have record of your attendance. As for contributions of record, you must use your assigned envelope, or put your name and and envelope number on a standard envelope with your offering. This is the only procedure that can guarantee accuracy and consistency, and at the same time assists those who count the offerings weekly. If you do not know your envelope number, were not given envelopes this year, or have questions concerning this process, please contact Sandra Olley, (732-0876)Financial Secretary.
Lector Volunteers Needed!
Our pool of available lectors is diminishing. This would be a wonderful way to contribute your time and talent to the church... and it is not a time-consuming activity. If you are interested in serving as a lector, please contact Dennis Meisel at 582-2195 or the church office at 732-9652.
Congratulations Graduates!
Congratulations to those high school and college students who graduated this spring and were recognized
Teachers Needed!
Want to make a difference in a child's life? If so, please consider teaching in our Sunday School. We especially need teachers willing to commit to one or two weeks this summer to teach our primary students (K-6). Teaching materials will be provided. Sign up sheet is on the Fellowship table. For questions see Jacqueline Brock or Marlene Engle.

Becoming a Blessed Church - on behalf of anyone who is currently reading this book, we feel compelled to share it with you, hoping that each of you will journey with us in learning how to become a blessed church. What does being blessed mean to you? To our church? Would discerning God's vibrant purpose for our congregation add new excitement and direction? Did you know that experiencing Christ's presence is contagious? Can we learn to recognize and expect the power of the Holy Spirit to manifest itself in our individual lives and in the life of our congregation? This month, read this book, and see what God has in store. We suspect that God's Spirit will be so alive when you read it that you will not be able to put it down. Check the list of people on the Reading Corner table for possible discussion partners.
Update from the Capitol Campaign Committee
Since the beginning of the Capital Campaign in July of 2005, we have raised $15,739.00 of the $40,000.00 that is needed. We have colored in 3147 squares of the 8,000 squares. This represents nearly 40% of our goal. Good work!
Give An Extra Dollar
Many people think we shouldn't talk about finances in the church. Did you know that in the Bible there are 40 verses on baptism, 275 verses on prayer, 350 verses on faith, 650 verses on love - and 2,350 verses that relate specifically to finances and material possessions? This is your change to give an extra dollar in May for Altar guild supplies and in June for Vacation Bible School, pastor finances, and to send church members to the Synod Assembly.
Simply Giving
The Stewardship Committee is promoting the Simply Giving Program as an alternative means of making your offering more convenient for all members. Through this program you can authorize Zion to withdraw a specified amount each week or month directly from your checking or savings account.
There are several advantages to using this program. First, you do not have to find the envelope or checkbook on Sunday morning. Second, your offering will arrive at the church whether you are sick, on vacation, traveling, or whatever. Third, the program provides a more steady income for the church throughout the year, thus avoiding the peaks and valleys that are usual. The program is easy to establish and changes can be made easily. There are no costs involved in using the program. Even though the program is sponsored by Thrivent Financial, they do not receive any information on who participates. If interested, please see Dan or Deb Loope for an information packet.
Bulletin Sponsorship
Donations are being accepted to cover the cost of weekly bulletins (approximately $30 per week). The minimum donation is $10 and sponsors can dedicate the bulletin in honor or memory of loved ones, or to the glory of God. All orders should go through Doug Fry.
IT’S
A CARD SHOWER!!
To remind our shut-in members that they are a part of us, even though we are apart, we are going to have a monthly card shower. At some point during the month, would you take the time to send a card or write a note to let that person know you are thinking of them and praying for them?
