Council Meeting Highlights
March 2005
* Approved the use of the building for May 7, 2005 for a non-member baby shower.
* Approved the use of the parking lot for May 22, 2005 for the East Pennsboro Township Memorial Day Parade..
* Alvin Bock III is our current Treasurer. Council approved his appointment to a voting member of council to fill the vacancy left by Richard Martin's resignation, term expiring 2007. Alvin will serve as the liaison to the Audit Committee.
* Approved the hiring of a non-member, Jill Archer, as the church secretary. We welcome her to our congregation.
* The last day of our seminary student, Sadie Pounder, to be with us is May 1, 2005. We have enjoyed getting to know her and will miss her. We wish her the best on her journey through seminary and eventual pastoral ordination.
* The March 13, 2005 luncheon to welcome April Trout and her presentation on Tanzania, sponsored by Zion Seniors, resulted in a free will offering to $100.00 to be given to our companion synod, the Konde Diocese in Tanzania.
* The Treasurer indicated that our weekly actual receipts are keeping up with our weekly budgeted needs. This is significant progress and the congregation is commended on their stewardship. As you know with the coming of the Spring and Summer seasons, activities do occur that may occasionally take us away from our regular church attendance. It is important to remember that the expenses of the church stay constant for each week of the year. Thus those months also need to continue to have the receipts keeping pace with the expenditures.
* The Sunday School has seen a re-organization with new teachers. We encourage the parents of school age students to promote their children's regular attendance. We also would like to see more adults participating in the Adult Sunday school sessions. The council welcomes any concerns and/or suggestions to facilitate improved attendance.
* The Women of Zion would like to remind everyone using the kitchen that there is a protocol for clean-up of the kitchen and that we need to be mindful to insure the kitchen in cleaned after each use.
