Council Meeting Highlights

February 2004

* Council approved a $25.00 donation to Boy Scout Troop 40 in Dallastown, PA. This donation will be used to buy supplies to support an Eagle Scout project to improve the bathrooms in ten cabins at Camp Nawakwa.

* Council approved a $25.00 donation to the Friends of Hidden Valley Boy Scout Camp. This donation will aide in providing pastoral inter-faith weekend services to visiting scout campers.

* After much negotiation, the Church office building and garage will now be exempt from real estate taxes.

* The church family will be welcoming six new members by affirmation of faith on Sunday, February 29.

* Carl and Donna Lubold were elected to represent Zion as voting members to the Lower Susquehanna Synod Assembly being held at Gettysburg College in June.

* Karl Aikey has agreed to act as our first technology coordinator, to be the lead person to keep our telephone and computer services in proper order. Also serving as resources will be Dennis Engle, Doug Fry and John Shutika.

*Zion will be partnering with St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wertzville Road for a number of joint worship services during Lent and Easter.

* Committees are in the process of re-organizing for this year. New members and ideas are welcomed, and we encourage you to consider serving. There's a committee for everyone's interests and talents. Please see a council member, council committee liaison or chairperson for more information.

* Council has compiled a list of items and objectives that we hope to address throughout the year. Many of these items are based on concerns/issues that have been brought to Council members either formally or informally. Some are more pressing than others; all are important. All will get attention and hopefully will meet with a positive and acceptable resolution. We look forward to a very eventful, exciting year and will be keeping in mind at all times that our church is about God's work.
