Council Meeting Highlights
December 13, 2004
The Property Committee reported that completion of the belfry ceiling tile project is scheduled for Saturday, January 29, 2005. Those interested in volunteering should arrive at the Summerdale Diner at 7 am for breakfast and/or at church at 8 am.
Several representatives of the Children's Center at Enola (Churches Affiliated Child Care, Inc) provided a presentation of their day care program. They are interested in having Zion serve as an affiliate church for their program. This would include having two members of Zion serve on their Board of Directors, providing funds for their scholarship program to offer discounts to qualifying day care families, and promoting their fundraising activities. Further investigation of this program will occur.
Mutual Ministry members, Marlene Engle and Bruce Deveney presented a request to partner with Council to pursue long range planning for our congregation. All agreed this would be a positive and needed project that will also need to enlist congregational member input. This will most likely begin at the Council Retreat in January.
Committee Chairs and Liaisons for Worship Assistants (acolytes, ushers, Alter Guild, greeters, etc.) are reminded that beginning in January 2005, Zion's Tidings will be published bi-monthly. Information for both months must be submitted the 15th of the month prior (deadline for the March/April issue is February 15).
Everyone was reminded to check the thermostat to ensure that when not in use, the building temperature is set at 63 degrees.
Social Ministry reported that they donated $200 to the Ronny Powley Center for meeting a family/families need during this Holiday Season.
Alvin Bock III, Treasurer, presented the Treasurer's report utilizing the Shepherd's Staff financial software.
