Council Meeting Highlights

 

October 2005

 

* Approved use of facilities by Citizens Fire Company for September 15, 2006.

 

* Reviewed correspondence from Lutheran Camping Corporation regarding summer camping, Bishop Carol Hendrix regarding congregations' mission support, and Pastor Evan Houck regarding our congregation's participation and support of the West Shore Conference's Hurricane Katrina/Grace Lutheran Mission Support activities.

 

* Tabled a recommendation from the Finance Committee to place a hold on an independent insurance appraisal until further information on possible funding can be obtained.

 

* Approved a recommendation from the Worship & Music Committee to hold summer services in 2006 (June 11 to September 3) at 9:15 am.

 

* Approved a recommendation from the Worship & Music Committee to hold worship at Adams-Ricci Park on the day of our annual picnic in 2006.

 

* Approved a recommendation from Zion Seniors to purchase a defibrillator for the congregation, with funds from Zion Seniors through the Bretz Fund.

 

* Discussed the need to fill the Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer positions. To date no one has indicated an interest. If no volunteers are found, it will be necessary to pay an individual or accounting firm to do this important work.

 

* Discussed the fee schedule for the Facilities Policy and Guidelines. Following editorial changes, the entire document will be voted on at the November meeting.

 

* Set the date for the Annual Congregational Meeting for Sunday, December 11. At this meeting we will elect four new Council members, elect a nominating committee for 2006, and approve the 2006 budget.

 

* Voted to allow the scouts to post on their bulletin board a list of websites that offer information on sexual predators in our area.
