Council Meeting Highlights
October 11, 2004
Voted to approve four new members who were received on Sunday, October 24.
Voted to approve the six youth for confirmation on Reformation Sunday, October 31.
Elected Alvin Bock III to fill the Treasurer position.
Council continues to have a vacancy to fill.
Voted to accept the resignation of sexton Ron Rouzer. His last day is Friday, October 15.
Council liaisons to committees were requested to advise committee chairs/members to practice energy efficiency in ensuring that lights are turned off and windows closed immediately after their meetings held in the church.
The Property Committee, utilizing memorial funds, replaced the cherry tree in the Freda Six Memorial Garden.
Voted to approve the Memorial Committee's recommendation to purchase a new advent wreath with liquid wax candles, and 16 pew candlesticks and brackets. Total cost will be $3,223.52.
Learned that the outstanding balance on the organ loan is $272.00. Once this loan is paid, the organ fund will be closed. Any donations received after the fund is closed will be applied to the building fund, unless a specific other fund is designated.
The Assistant Treasurer reminded Council liaisons, committee chairs and committee members to utilize the church tax identification number to ensure that purchases for the church receive the sales tax exemption.
The Assistant Treasurer reminded Council liaisons that forms for church purchase reimbursements must be complete with adequate documentation. Incomplete forms will be returned and thus will delay reimbursement to the member or payment to the business. The reimbursement form is considered complete when all information is filled in along with the committee chair's approval signature and the store receipt is attached to the back of the form.
Approved the name of Capital Campaign Task Force for Zion for the task force created to offer and implement ideas to raise and solicit funds for major property repairs. Thus far, the volunteers for this task force are Rethea Deveney, Chris Ramsey, Pat Heckman, and Mike and Lynn Placzek.
Committee chairs are requested to submit their annual report to the church office by December 31, 2004. For uniformity, the reports should be typed in Arial Font, 12 point.
As a printing and postal cost savings initiative, Coucil agreed to limit the number of annual reports printed. The annual report will not be mailed to the congregation. For those interested in obtaining a copy of the report, a supply will be available for pick up in the narthex.
