Council Meeting Highlights
January 10, 2005
The East Pennsboro Township Recreation Department will be hosting a "Kids Yard Sale" on Saturday, June 4. Council agreed to have the congregation participate in this event by having a booth. Anyone interested in volunteering to assist in the planning and the actual event should see Doug Fry or Deb Loope.
Council voted to revise the current policy regarding employment of a church secretary. The secretary may or may not be a member of the congregation. The open vacancy will be posted with hopes to be filled prior to February 11, 2005.
Council voted to revise the bulletin to show only the weekly budget goal and the weekly actual amount received. This year's weekly budget goal is $2,703.85.
Property committee has permanently shut off the pilot lights to the stove burners since they frequently self extinguish due to the drafts in that area. As a result, the burners will need to be manually lit and manually extinguished.
The Council has decided it will open its meetings with a half hour discussion on how to address and support a particular committee or ministry need. This month, discussion focused on Christian Education. There is a great need for a Primary (nursery to grade 6) Department Coordinator. The coordinator would work closely with the Primary teachers to choose education topics for the year. It is important that we meet our children's needs through Bible stories, crafts, games and prayer, while providing basic education to facilitate their learning the Ten Commandments, Apostles' Creed and the church year. These teachings will make a difference in our youngsters' lives. Anyone interested in learning more about this volunteer opportunity should see Pastor Gwenn.
