Snow and Ice Policy:  If bad weather conditions occur on a Sunday morning, please call the church office for information. The answering machine will include information regarding cancellation of Sunday activities by 8:00 am. If you receive the welcoming message, activities will be held as planned. Cancellation of Sunday School and/or worship will occur only if the pastor is unable to travel safely to the church or the parking lots cannot be cleared.

 

Communion: We now offer grape juice as well as wine for communion. Prefilled cups of grape juice are on the right of the center aisle as you come forward. After receiving bread, pause in front of the person pouring wine to hear the words "the blood of Christ shed for you."

PANCAKES & COATS

In an effort to reach out to the community, Zion Lutheran Church, 265 North Enola Drive, Enola has planned a free pancake breakfast and clothing drive on Saturday, October 2, 8:00 am to noon.  The clothing drive will include outerwear only: jackets, coats, hats, gloves, mittens, scarves, etc. 

 

The church is located at the corner of North Enola Drive and Columbia Road in Enola, East Pennsboro Township.  All are invited.  For more information or to donate outerwear, call the church office at 732-9652.

 

FUNDRAISER SCHEDULED

Zion Lutheran Church invites the community to participate in a fellowship and fundraising event on Sunday, September 26 at two Hoss's Restaurant locations: Wertzville Road, Enola and Old Gettysburg Pike, Mechanicsburg.  Hoss's Restaurants will donate 20% of sales for those who present free tickets.  All proceeds from the event will be donated to Christ Lutheran Church in Dillsburg, which recently suffered a fire destroying their church buildings and contents. 

 

Although diners may attend any time of the day during normal business hours, a room has been set aside at noon at the Enola restaurant.

FALL EDUCATION PROGRAM ANNOUNCED

The fall education program at Zion Lutheran Church, 265 North Enola Drive, Enola will kick off on Sunday, September 12 with their annual Rally Day festivities.  The day will begin with a breakfast at 8:00 am, followed by the Sunday School program at 9:00 am and worship at 10:15 am.   Participants will spend some time studying symbols of the church and making new chrismons (short for "Christ monograms") for their Christmas trees.  Members of the congregation will also be encouraged to make chrismons at home throughout the fall.  For those who don't feel "crafty," there will be plenty of other activities during the Sunday School hour.

 

This year’s Rally Day program will be the kickoff for the congregation's new "Back 2 Basics" program.  This program will help participants get back to the foundations of the Lutheran faith, including the creeds, the Ten Commandments, the Lord's Prayer, the Sacraments, Lutheran history and theology.  The first "Back 2 Basics" program will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 5:00-7:00 pm with a soup supper followed by a session on baptism.  On All Hallow's Eve, Saturday, October 30 at  6:30 pm the congregation will gather to view the movie Luther starring Joseph Fiennes to learn more about Martin Luther and what really happened during the Reformation.  Refreshments will be provided.

 

 

BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS

 

A Blessing of the Animals service will be held on Sunday, October 3, 1:30 pm at Zion Lutheran Church, 265 North Enola Drive, Enola.  The service will be held on the eve of the day commemorating Saint Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals.  Saint Francis saw all creation as part of a family, with animals as his brothers and sisters.  Pet owners are asked to bring their pets to the service, which will be held outdoors, on leashes or in cages.
